Headaches
Headaches are one of the most common complaints seen by physical therapists, they frequently cause significant pain and disability, and they are fortunately very often treatable with conservative interventions.
There are very many types of headaches with different causes, and I will perform a thorough examination and history to determine if your headaches are treatable with therapy of if you should be referred back to your physician for medical management. Some headaches indicate a dangerous disease process, but most are related to a movement dysfunction that can be addressed with manual therapy and, most importantly, therapeutic exercise.
Frequently muscle imbalances in the chest, upper back, and neck contribute to postures which predispose patients to headaches. Lifestyle habits are likely at the root of the issue. Manual therapy can help regain the range of motion and offer pain relief, while targeted exercises and lifestyle modification offer a long-term solution - your plan of care may even include an on-site ergonomic assessment of your workspace or home.
Contact me if you have been suffering headaches and are looking for a non-invasive, non-pharmaceutical solution.
